Security Awareness Training for Students and Educators
Cybersecurity Training is Critical to Reducing the Growing Risk of Cyber Attacks IN SCHOOLS
Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing area of concern for educators, administrators and students worldwide. With the drive to online classes and bring-your-own-device policies, there are many opportunities for cybercriminals to steal personally identifiable information (PII), passwords and other institutional data.
Educational institutions are susceptible to
cybersecurity threats mostly because of the
number of devices they manage, the diversity in
operating systems, and the lack of cybersecurity
awareness training. Cybersecurity experts
around the world have recommended that all
educational institutions establish a cybersecurity
team of their own, as well as implement some
key best practices to ensure safety and privacy,
but according to a recent Morning Consult IBM
Security Education Ransomware study, that has
not happened at many institutions.
Security awareness training provides education
that helps people be more aware of why they
should be wary of unprompted messages and
reinforces the need to practice established
cybersecurity protocols. Regular security training
helps users be more familiar with how they can
protect their devices from ransomware and
eliminate habits that can make them susceptible
to cyber attacks.
FACT: Most data breaches start from within. Your own employees and contractors can unwittingly leave a backdoor open to cybercriminals. 33% of data breaches are attributable to an internal employee or contractor.
